Ransom ware has been a problem for quite some time now. Today we're seeing a MASSIVE increase in ransomware attempting to install across the board.
For those who don't know, ransomware is a class of malware that slips into your computer and encrypts all of your data and then demands money in exchange for the password to access your files. It's the computer equivalent of kidnapping for ransom, thus the name.
Protecting against ransomware, like any security threat, is best handled with a multi-layered approach. The first layer is perimeter security attempting to keep the viruses outside of your network. This second layer is your computer's antivirus package. The final layer, should you become infected, is a good backup which will allow recovery of the data from before the infection.
Not Your Problem implements all three layers of security for clients in addition to coaching on good habits and how to recognize dangerous websites and e-mail messages.
